ASEAN Civil Society Conference / ASEAN People’s Forum – 2016

Welcome to the ACSC/APF 2016 Action Hub. Here you’ll see how Vietnam’s independent CSOs find creative ways to stay engaged in the ACSC/APF processes as they work to fight exclusion and build meaningful ASEAN partnerships.

Actions taken by independent civil society in Vietnam – 2016

JANUARY – At the start of 2016, independent civil society organizations collectively formed the Vietnam Independent Civil Society Organization Network (VICSON) and draft a Terms of Reference (ToR) for a new government-free national process.

FEBRUARY – VICSON doubled in size as new independent groups joined VICSON. Vietnamese Women for Human Rights (VNWHR) also was able to join a Solidarity for Asian People’s Advocacy (SAPA) remotely with a video that introduces the new national process and calls for regional support. VICSON also created a handout aimed at introducing its secretariat and membership to a wider ASEAN audience.

MARCH – VICSON has continued its activities through March, including proposals and plans for committee positions and attending the first consultation to be held in Bangkok on 31 March – 1 April.
