Democratic Voice of Vietnam

Part of BPSOS’ mission is to help immigrants and refugees from Vietnam start a new life in the United States. We provide guidance in finding medical care, English language training, and citizenship classes. Providing these services could never happen without our dedicated employees and volunteers.

Today we are highlighting the work of Duc Truong who works in our D.C. headquarters. Here is a thank you letter written to him by one of the families he had the honor of assisting.

“We arrived in the US more than a year ago following the ODP program, sponsored by our children. When we first got here everything was different for us, we do not speak English, we had no job, plus my former sickness returned, I was very worried. While my daughter was busy working and did not have time to take care of us. Luckily I was referred to the office of the BPSOS to get help. I was really surprised by the kindness of everyone there. They welcome us and helped us carefully. Especially Mr. Duc Truong, he helped us to buy insurance, showed us how to get online to exercise, and to learn English, and to communicate with people around us. Now we have been cured of our sickness, we are learning English. Our lives are well settled and could assimilate into the US society. We are extremely grateful for BPSOS and especially Mr. Duc Truong. Because he spent so much energy and overtime at work to give directions and help us accomplish everything. We are writing this letter to BPSOS to show our appreciation to all of you and especially Mr. Duc Truong who helped us so much. We wish the management of BPSOS a lot of health to help many people like us.”
